Zoe & Mia Playing April 2013

I never get tired of seeing my dogs play, but it’s still pretty rare that they get riled up when I have my camera handy & there is enough light to get them  on video without too much blur.  It’s been over a year since Zoe was diagnosed with tumors, and we’re past the original life expectancy that I was told I could expect.  So I really try to cherish every day and it especially warms my heart to see she still has playful moments and can have fun.

GOOD NEWS OF THE DAY: Enjoying our (probably) last cold snap of the winter & looking forward to hubby coming home for the weekend.

Mia the Maniac

My dogs both bring me so much joy, but this little one is hours of entertainment.  We’ll hear her run upstairs, grab a toy, and wrestle with it until we can’t stand the madness any longer.  I rarely have a camera handy to grab her insanity, but she totally cracks me up as she entertains herself with all of her toys.

GOOD NEWS OF THE DAY:  A gorgeous winter day hanging out with friends & getting ready for their baby.

Zoe Update & Paddling Pups

This poor post has been sitting here, photos + video ready, for almost a week & I’ve decided to extended August Break while I finished out the summer by spending Labor Day in Seattle doing all sorts of fun tourist things & hardly on the computer.  But I haven’t seen my pups in a few days & I’m missing them until I can get home form work this afternoon. Both dogs LOVE their water bugs & Mia will chase it around like a fool- jumping in after it, searching around for them, putting her face in the water, and finally catching it.

My favorite thing about summer is spending time in the pool with the dogs- they are just so much fun.  Yes, I’ve taken tons of these pool photos, but I have such a blast & can’t stop taking more- especially of the Ms. Mia’s insanity in the air.

It was so good to see Zoe in the pool & swimming around again.  She’s really been feeling good the last few weeks with fewer accidents & lots more spunk as she plays with toys or puts up with Mia around the house.

This dog will jump for HOURS on end if something is splashing & moving around in the water.

She can be a bit dangerous since she’s got no concept of where she actually jumps or is landing.

John is so great with the dogs- always entertaining them & chasing their bugs around the pool, getting new batteries, or sticking them back together after Zoe’ destroys them.

Yea, it was a good day- I took off work early & floated around the pool playing with my puppies & my camera- life doesn’t get much better.

I couldn’t resist another jumping GIF.  I’m pleasantly surprised with the burst mode on my little P&S camera, even if the actual photo quality leaves something to be desired.

So thankful to have a few more months with Zoe & I’m glad I got some video of her happily swimming around.  She’s not as fast & feisty as she was before, but she’s still so sweet & loving.

GOOD NEWS OF THE DAY: So proud to announce the official launch of Grow Soul Beautiful- my new blog about yoga, photography, & soul nourishment.  I’d be honored if you checked it out!

Cevice Sunday

Sundays are officially becoming husband cooking day around these parts.  The inspiration to try ceviche struck a few weeks ago, so we hit the grocery store right after church & picked up all the necessary ingredients.

I was in charge of the usual- cheese & meat plate to accompany the wine & music I’d selected for our cooking adventure.

I love the simplicity of ceviche- all the ingredients are some of my favorites.  Lots of chopping & dicing later we wer ready for a delicious meal….

Yea, so we officially ended up with about 2 gallons of ceviche- so much that he took some to the parentals house.  It was delicious- I love nothing more than chips & dip, and a shrimp or fish ceviche is so delectable.

And just a totally random picture of a typical evening at our house- both dogs piled on either myself or hubby.  Ms. Mia is such a kisser- she loves to give out loving.

GOOD NEWS OF THE DAY: After a few long months, we finally closed on another rental property.

Hunter’s High School Graduation

At the very beginning of June, my baby brother took a bit step into the adult world as he graduated from high school.

The whole family piled into Barry Center to watch him grduate with highest honors from Cy-Fair high school.

Graduation ceremonies themselves are generally boring, but this one was super exciting- my brother was nominated by his teachers & peers to give the opening address to over 600 graduating students and 8,000 people total in attendance.  He sat up on the stage during most of the ceremony along with the school and school board administration.

My brother knocked it out of the park with his opening remarks & prayer.  He’d caught a little resistance from the school administrators about praying, especially including the Name of Jeusus, but he went ahead and did it anyway.  I was so stinking proud of him & his classmates were so excited about it too.  He’s got such a great for sharing his faith & I know he is going to go on and do amazing things.

Every seat in the house was packed & graduating high school is such an amazing time for these kids as they prepare for one of the biggest changes in their lives as they head off to college.

The other kids did a great job with their speeches too & then we just waited for the hundreds of names to be called out.

It was a late night with big party plans the following evening, so we just grabbed a quick dinner at our local favorite restaurant & of course ran into his best friend.  Haley is excited for him to go & acts like she can’t wait, but I know she’ll miss having her older brother around.

GOOD NEWS OF THE DAY: Last week of the first half of the year- going to be packed with awesome!
