Oh- tough topic!
Apparently it was a movie title, but my first reaction right now is the political landscape in our country. As we enter the last few weeks before the US Presidential election, things are tense. It seems like both sides are the debate are so impassioned and will never agree on anything, especially compromises that are necessarily to effectively govern.
Just last night H & I were chatting about his trip to India and how it was such a great experience, but also so filled with inequalities in the caste system that leave the rich and poor worlds apart from each other.
I think that’s why I enjoy vacationing & especially going on retreat so much is that it gives us a brief break from our everyday world and let’s us focus on relaxing, evaluating our life, and just taking a break from the everyday ordinary demands of life. We don’t have to go around the world to get away- sometimes it’s just a nice long drive through the countryside to clear our minds or a weekend getaway back to nature (like camping).
I think of my brother, who suddenly has a brand new world now that’s he off in college. Leaving behind the only home he’s ever known & diving deep into the world of college and adulthood. He’s doing really well, and I’m already excited to watch him growing up and learning to find his own way.
GOOD NEWS OF THE DAY: Seriously- the TSA is redeeming itself in my mind with the pre-check, I am loving it as I’ve been living in an airport this month.
