I’m not about to tell you about one of the coolest & most awesome things I’ve ever done, so hold on! As part of Bloggy Boot Camp Dallas, Mirassou wine sponsored a happy hour Saturday night. Well FRIDAY night, they selected 8 bloggers who’d shown interest in wine on their blogs (um, hello that’s me with 73 posts about wine) for a private wine dinner and tasting. Before the night was over, I’d tried all 7 of those delicious Mirassou wines up there!

I was so honored to be selected and just blown away that David Mirassou himself flew in from running the vineyards and winery in California to dine with us. We ate at Sevy’s & had a 6 course meal, after our welcome wine! And, OH was it delicious!! I wouldn’t consider myself a foodie or somebody with a very sophisticated palate, but I could really appreciate all the different flavors and textures complementing each wine.

If I had to pick my favorite course, it would be the avocado crab stack! The chef stopped in several times to make sure we were enjoying ourselves and to say hello to David. Mirassou.
It was incredible & I loved the fact that we were free to take as many photos & tweet away all while wining & dining! What else would you expect from a group of very happy bloggers?

We had so much fun! David Mirassou told us all abou his family’s history- from coming over from Europe, the great depression, and Prohibition. He had some fabulous stories & answered so many of our questions about what goes on behind the scenes at a vineyard. I had no idea that Mirassou was a family owned & historic winery with such deep roots in American wine culture.

We laughed. We learned. We talked about drinking wine & how things are changing so fast in our culture. We drank. We ate. We shared our ideas and thoughts about the importance of wine to friendships, families, and making memories. We took lots of pictures!

Tiffany and a few other SITS ladies stopped by to check on us, and we kept on working our way through all the courses- trying to budget room for all the remaining food.

I was keeping up with diligently “tasting” all my wines through the whites, but found I couldn’t keep up once we hit the red wines! Maybe too much chatting or too much delicious food, but I still had a great time trying to many different varietals that were perfectly paired with each course.

And to top off an already incredible evening, we each received a lovely gift bag full of wine treats, Mirassou recipes and tips for entertaining with wine, and a signed bottle of wine!

Here’s our fabulous group of ladies- we had such a great evening & really enjoying tasting & talking wine all evening.

Inside our goodie bag were some great handouts with meals, recipes ideas for wine pairings, and props for hosting a wine tasting party. I’m still talking about how awesome this was & I have to say, I’ve had a few glasses of Mirassou wine since then & loved branching out beyond their Pinor Noir. Thank you so much to the lovely people at Mirassou.
GOOD NEWS OF THE DAY: Austin is awesome & the weather here is amazing- so glad I can get out for a run to the capitol.

Wow, this event looks like it was so fun, and informative! I would love to go to a dinner like this sometime. The food, the wine, meeting David Mirassou. Amazing!
