Decorating the Dining Room

As you probably know, most of the activities in our house center around our kitchen.  Our lovely home does feature a really nice dining room that is generally functions as more of a hallway between the kitchen and stairs.  For the first year we lived in our house, it was probably one of the most neglected rooms.  No new paint, no new furniture, we threw up some of our travel art on the walls & basically ignored it.  Last fall, for a variety of reason (too much Pinterest probably being one of them), I got a hankering to decorate the dining room table & set it all out like I was having some sort of fancy meal.

I traipsed around a variety of stores- Hobby Lobby, Pier 1, Bed Bath & Beyond, to name a few, picking up a whole fantastic setup for the dining room.  It was therapeutic and fun at the same time, searching out just the right pieces and parts to mix and match together.  I bought lots of things & returned lots of things before settling on a final arrangement.

I’m still not crazy about the walls or paint color, but I’m certainly unmotivated to do anything about it right now.   Yea, there’s a long story about why we only have 4 chairs and the short answer about never getting more is that we all hang out in the kitchen cause it’s way more awesome than a dining room.

Yes totally random & totally pointless.  I note to myself everyday how much dust is collecting on all the fake decorations everyday, but it does look pretty and I’m prepared if anybody ever wants to stop by with an amazing meal.

Just a gratuitous shot of Zoe and the dining room.

Decorating isn’t as easy at it looks!  I had fun, but it’s certainly not my forte & I really appreciate those that have a great eye for doing it.

GOOD NEWS OF THE DAY: Headed up to the Woodlands to hang out with friends at the pool today.
