Bedroom Repainting

When we moved into our house, I insisted on painting our bedroom before the furniture got moved in.  I knew we’d be painting the living room & kitchen in the remodel, but I really hated having the boring brown in our bedroom as well as every other wall in the house.  We painted it ourselves & I really do love the darker blue color.  However, it’s just a very bold color for a bedroom & looking at photos, it looks much worse that I remember it being in the room everyday.

After nearly 2 years, husband decided it was time for something more neutral and pleasant.  Right after the new year, the painters showed up and took about a full day to paint the bedroom & dining room.

I’m really happy with how the colors turned out- so soft and a perfect match to our new comforter.  I’d still like to replace the carpet at some point in the future, perhaps with some wood, but the dogs love playing & rolling around now on the carpets.

Lots of rooms in our house are big, as in we have tons of extra space in the bedroom, bathroom, and kitchen area.  We both enjoy the spaciousness of it, but it’s not the best use of that square footage.

Yes, both dogs photo bombed my picture & wouldn’t move!  Overall, I love how soothing & relaxing the room is now.

Husband wanted a nice, neutral duvet cover & I found one that I loved at Bliss Living Home- they have some adorable stuff & I picked up these two new pillows to add some color and pizazz to the bed.

These aren’t perfect before & after photos, but you get the general idea.  I had no idea the room was crazy blue seeing it in the pictures.  The little change has been nice & make the room more cozy.

In case anybody is curious, here are the exact paint shades we used:

Lower Paint – Sherwin Williams Kiln Beige SW 6106 & Upper Paint – Sherwin Williams Sleepy Blue SW 6225

GOOD NEWS OF THE DAY: Going kayaking as a couple for the first time since our honeymoon.

  1. Wow – what a difference. At first, when I started reading the post and saw the original color scheme, I thought, well that’s not to bad at all – but then when I saw the new color scheme I just love it. Nice choices!

Thanks- I’m proud (surprised?) at myself for picking such decent looking colors- I usually have no decorator skills!
