Organizing the Pantry

A few weeks back, I’d had enough of our messy pantry.  It is huge, so we had the rooms to just throw things every which way.  Also, the shelves on the left side were very deep and I couldn’t reach things in the back without knocking over everything in the front.

All it took was a billboard telling me the annual Elfa sale was happening at the Container Store & I took the plunge.  First step was to take everything out and wipe down the shelves.

A little arm twisting and it took H about an hour to install 6 lovely pull out drawers.  They were prefect depth and perfect height.

Ok- don’t hate on my food selection!  All the packaged and boxed stuff in the upper left drawer and the dogs have their own drawer with extra toys and treats.

Next level down is the canned stuff on the left and all my drink mixes and running snacks on the right.  I will say that these drawers were intended for clothing, so loading them up with really heavy cans makes sliding a little more difficult than when they are empty.

Bottom set of drawers is the everything else bin on the right and the canned veggies on the right.

I’ve freed up all the smaller shelves on the right & many other things are organized on either side of the bins.

Things up top and down below are more organized and I am so much happier every time I step into the pantry.  It makes such a huge difference to have the organization in place & then I’m happy to stay organized.  It’s been a few weeks and it hasn’t reverted to a state of mess yet, but we’ll see after a few months.  Now to tackle some very disorganized closets….

GOOD NEWS OF THE DAY: After one of the worst days imaginable yesterday (Saturday), today has got to be better as we are off to tour the Andes!
