New Year’s Eve was very low key at our house- no celebrating with friends, no Rockets game with family, no partying at downtown hotels, no rocking out in Time Square like past years. since we’d just returned home from a week in Puerto Rico, we decided to stay home & enjoy a delicious steak meal and a bottle of Malbec. I finished off my journal from Pathfinder & started sketching out a few ideas in my 2012 journal. The puppies were happy we were home & we enjoyed daydreaming about all the new year would hold for us, including adding several items to our Life Menu of Awesome.

Seeing as we are almost halfway through January, it’s about time I shared my reflections on the past year & goals for 2012. I don’t have nearly as much planned out for this year as I had planned for 2011, but still lots of exciting things. The usual stuff this year: Anniversary trip in February (Argentina, Mendoza, Patagnia, Santigo), Rodeo in February & hopefully a visit from my best friend, fishing again for Good Friday, our April birthdays are going to be bookended by 2 out of town weddings this year, then right into my brother’s Prom & high school graduation in May. We’re going to try to hit a few more baseball stadiums this year & hopefully some weekend trips for Memorial Day & Labor Day. Maybe another camping trip with friends & this might be the year we actually make it to the State fair.

Since reading Getting Things Done (review), I’ve tried to be more intentional about lists & life planning, so I am certain to have accomplished all the things I wanted to get done at the end of every day, month & year. I’m thrilled with hitting my goal of 1,000 miles of running this year & proud that I stuck to yoga (even if I stopped going to the gym). Journaling has helped me stay focused on the bigger pictures- where I can reflect on daily adventures & also keep long term planning lists and dreams. Having a daily checklist & long term exercise schedule has helped me stay accountable to actually accomplishing the things that I want to do each day/week/month. So here are the things I’d like to do this year….
Blogging- Continue to do about 1 blog day, complete the 31 days to Build a Better Blog in January, meet more Houston bloggers & attend meet-ups, attend conferences like Blog Her or SITS Bloggy Boot Camp
Exercise- 20 miles a week, 2x week on treadmill, 2x week weights, 2x yoga, 1x week swimming, tennis monthly, daily routine (plank, push-ups, stretching), increase speed with some half-marathons & NYC Marathon in November
Travel- Anniversary trip, meet Stephanie somewhere awesome for another girls weekend, baseball stadiums, fishing, Stare Fair in Dallas
Creative- 1 book month, continue journaling, take & teach photography, improve handwriting, continue One Little Word project, practice/learn piano, continue my calendar journal, take other online courses throughout the year, photography workshop
Faith- better at reading Bible, take sermon notes, volunteer again, find a small group
GOOD NEWS OF THE DAY: Girlfriends happy hour tonight with my bridesmaid!

You are so busy! I am jealous of all of your travels though!
Sounds like you have a lot of fun stuff planned for this year, and a good plan in place for your goals – good luck reaching all of them!
I’m a list maker too, I’d be a mess without them.
