Best Friends with Santa

Here’s hoping Santa treated you right last night!  A few weeks ago when I was in Philly, wandering around the incredible downtown Macy’s there with my best friend Stephanie, we decided to have our picture taken with Santa. You can never be too old right?  Spending time with those you love most is really what the holidays are all about to me!  Although we have a fabulous time visiting over a several days, this is the only picture we took of us together :)

In the grand tradition of gorgeous and traditional stores, the Macy’s is located in the stunning Wanamaker Building just across from City Hall.  The interior is one of the most beautiful I have ever seen for a department store, especially seeing it all decorated for the holidays.

In addition to a Santa & a VERY old Dicken’s walk-through story, they have a gorgeous light and organ show that tells a christmas story through narration and all these lights that has been shown for the last 55+ years.  I was lucky enough to catch it & it was so neat to see dozens of people just camped out in the middle of the floors and aisles with their kids watching the show.

I felt so special and swanky shopping in such a prestigious place with so much history & surrounded by such awesome architecture.

Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays to everybody- I hope you spend it with the ones you love the most!

GOOD NEWS OF THE DAY: Santa was good to me & brought  jewelry and a little vacation!

I used to work in the Wanamaker Building (and walked through city hall to get there every day) and missed the light show this holiday season! Great post! The Dickens show used to be in another historic Philly department store on Market but when they closed (maybe in 2007?) they moved to Macy’s and restored it :) So now its all this Philly Christmas history in one spot :)
