Since I am not a gambler at all, one of the main attractions of going to Vegas was the nearby scenery. Since it was just a very short weekend trip, we didn’t have enough time for a proper tour of the Grand Canyon, so we opted for a quick helicopter tour to at least lay eyes on it. Saturday morning, we piled in a tiny helicopter with 4 other passengers & were soon flying straight over the Las Vegas airport and its numerous runways.

It is almost all desert in the surrounding areas, which makes for some beautiful rock formations & striking color in the earth. The one small creek was abundant with green things growing & then we crossed over Lake Las Vegas.

The tour included a fly-over of Lake Mead & the Hoover dam. It was great to see it from a different angle & you could really appreciate how high the water was when you could see both sides at the same time.

Helicopter rides are the bomb- seeing things from above is always so fabulous, even if I do get a little motion sick in the process!

Flying over Lake Mead took a big portion of the trip since it is such a huge lake. The colors, shapes and patterns out in the desert were so beautiful and fascinating to me- reminds me that the Creator is quite the artist also.

At the other end of the lake, we could see where the Colorado fed just after it passed through a beautifully colored plains outside the Grand Canyon.

Approaching the Grand Canyon, we started getting a few glimpses that looked like this & I couldn’t believe we were going to get lucky enough to see one of the most beautiful things on earth covered in a light dusting of snow!
GOOD NEWS OF THE DAY: Good friends + good family –> great life!
