Grand Tasting

Three weeks ago, The Tasting Room (review) hosted their annual Grand Tasting event on a gorgeous Saturday afternoon.  Although the Tasting Room at Uptown Park is huge, they party spilled over into their parking lot with lounging tables and all the food tents.

I went with a girlfriend of mine & we started making our way around all the tables.  I think there were like 8 tables and each at 6-10 bottles of wine, where you could sip or try anything you wanted.

Doing the math, they told us if you tried every wine they had on the menu, it would be equivalent to 4 full bottles of wine!  For $50, this is a way more awesome event that last year’s Houston Wine Festival.

Especially since this event included free food!  Your admission price got you all the wine and food you wanted, and it was some really top notch stuff from high-end restaurants in Houston.

Their smaller room was nice & cool, but packed with people trying to get their tasting on.  The larger of the rooms was the reserve wine area for those who bought the more expensive tasting tickets.

Max’s Wine Bar is a sister property to TTR, and they had whipped up some of their delicious food for the festival.

Very interesting people watching, great wine, delicious food, fun music, gorgeous weather = awesome time!  We didn’t do so well trying all the wine, we only made it for 1 sampling at most tables plus a few off the list and a couple of bubbly ones.

GOOD NEWS OF THE DAY: Headed to San Antonio this afternoon to run the marathon Sunday!
