Fall means football time in Texas! H’s oldest cousin of the 5 brothers is in high school and this is his first year in the marching band. I promised I’d get out to a game to watch him perform & had the chance to do so 2 weekends ago.

He’s been playing the saxophone for a few years now & is really enjoying marching band. He wanted to do FFA this year, but is doing metal shop instead.

All the usual pomp & circumstance before a big game as the drill team dances & the football team takes to the field.

There’s something about all the traditions and ceremonies that surround a game that make me nostalgic and miss my own high school days.

The game was quickly underway and I do have to say their drill team dances in the stands had a lot more attitude than my sister’s dances.

It was a great game & I was impressed with all the parents & families that came out to support the kids on a cold night.

The other drill team & band put on a great half-time show- complete with an electric guitar and a solo vocal performance by one of the colorguard girls.

Unfortunately, it was Senior Night for Mark’s school and all the seniors were recognized with their parents, so the band just stood on the field and didn’t do a marching routine that night. It was great to get out and support him either way and know that he is participating in such a wonderful opportunity and we are so proud of him.
GOOD NEWS OF THE DAY: Crazy fall weather in Texas- storms & dramatic temp swings. Today’s high is going to be the low for this weekend- which is too hot for a marathon.

Seeing all of these pictures really make me miss my old marching days! So much fun.
Thank you so much for your sweet comment yesterday. I am sorry about your loss, huge hugs and prayers sent your way.
I’m amazed at how good these high school bands are! Very impressive since most teens can barely get their homework done
