Haley Drill Team

Two weekends ago I was able to catch a Thursday night football game and see my sister in her bigade performance before and during the game.  Although at a different high school that I attended, the district shares some of the same stadiums and I have many memories of attending football games here 13+ years ago.

They start out in the bleachers, but make their way down to the field for the team’s entrance and for the opening rituals that mark the start of all football games.

Drill team has been a great time for her as she loves to dance, but being part of such a large team with so many girls brings quite a few challenges.

It requires lots of after school practices and tons of time on the weekends before & after football games.  Although the games are fun, she’s looking forward to more dancing and getting ready for some of the small group and individual competitions in the spring.

It’s so hard to find a specific girl when they are all wearing the same outfit & can be really far away from where we are sitting.  I’ve gotten good at finding her ponytail!

The football team makes their grand entrance on the field & then it’s time for the national anthem.  The overall suits that our band wears always make me giggle just a little- they are adorable!

I have lots of fun playing around with my camera, just trying to catch a few good shots.  Their football team is undefeated and going to the playoffs next weekend.

The opposing drill team had some sassy dance  moves in the bleachers.  Dad & Brenda make it to almost every game and have season tickets.

That night was father-daughter dance for the other team, and they performed a Hawaii Five-O routine that was hysterical!

Finally it was half-time and our girls performed a skirt routine that was really pretty.

Luckily, my sister (in green) was on the end and I could easily find her and got some great shots of her performing.

All their skirts twirling and flowing around together was really pretty with all the patterns and movement.

Yup, my sister is ripped!

After the drill team’s performance, the band performed their routine. It was an interesting tribal piece that involved lots of dancing & some rather interesting outfits for the color-guard girls.

GOOD NEWS OF THE DAY: Yea for an extra hour of sleep last night & dancing this afternoon.
