Hubby was excited to purchase his first ever University of Houston Cougar Football season tickets recently & we headed out to our first game on Saturday afternoon. No tailgating for us this weekend, but hopefully we will be able to join the festivities in the future. Lots of students partying it up, the alumni areas were more around back and had more food/less booze. We caught the band marching into the stadium & then headed into grab our seats.

Loved the opening performance- seeing the band excited and running across the field fired up the crowd. The Saturday was a special salute to servicemen & they had several presentations and video clips throughout the game. Although 90 degrees outside, the national anthem still gives me chills sometimes!

We were about 4 rows up on the 40 yard line on the visitor side, so hubby was very excited about his seats & I was happy to photograph the action from so close.

I’m not a huge football fan, but it was a great game! It moved quickly, there were lots of touchdowns, tons of awesome photography shot, great excitement from the fans and amazing weather.

I loved being close enough to see the ball snapped & watch Casey Keenum do his quarterback magic.

Within just a few minutes we were quickly on the board with a touchdown & soon made several other scoring drives down the field.

The stands were almost full, only the very top corners had a few seats & the students were loving their first home game as the band cranked out the tunes.

So close to the action!

I loved when the line of scrimmage was directly in front of us & the few rows of people all moved just perfectly so I could snap shots.

One of H’s co-workers is the official school photographer, so we said hello to him during half-time and watched an exciting 2nd half.

It was still hot that day (over 90 degrees), but the clouds rolled in & the windy was blowing like crazy to keep us mostly cooled off. I loved seeing the sky and watching the clouds churn by, constantly checking my phone hoping for some rain. I’ll be missing the next few games since I am traveling to Colorado, but can’t wait to go again with hubby.
GOOD NEWS OF THE DAY: Running in 58 degrees this morning was so unbelievable amazing- I really hope fall is here early.

That last photo is absolutely amazing! Looks like HDR, it’s so vivid. I’m not a huge football fan myself but, as the daughter of a sportswriter, I’ve had to learn the ins and outs of the game! And it’s pretty fun to see in person, especially when the weather is great. Glad you had fun!
Thank you! I had so much fun going & playing with my camera. It was great to see a college game & be that close to the action and see the energy of the crowds- you’d never get those things at an NFL game.
