I was eager to try on my new lens & the puppies were captive subjects on my backyard. The Nikkor 85mm f/1.4G is generally a portrait lens & it’s a much longer focal length since I almost always have my 18-200 zoom on my camera.

I still really struggle with white balance & trying to figure out light temperature. Since it was late afternoon & the sun was going down, the photo on the left if probably much closer to the actual light.

Zoe is getting older & the heat this summer has been tough on her- it takes her a very long time to cool down when we return from runs, but she’s still heading out with me every morning that I jog.

Mia is like the energizer bunny- she could go on and on and on. I think she ran about 8 miles last weekend & didn’t even act tired.

I love the new lens & can’t wait to take it out for use as it was intended. It’s a bit slow focusing, but it’s not built to be doing action shot.

Mia is still on the hunt for the squirrels- I imagine we’ll see more of them as we head into fall & spend more time outside.

The dogs went nuts playing with each other & Mia’s play posturing cracks me up. I wish I’d been further away, but they were romping around right below me & I was too close to get many good shots.
GOOD NEWS OF THE DAY: The weather here is so gorgeous! We totally deserve it after the miserable summer we have had this year.

Terrific pictures and we can’t wait to see more. Funny how our canine friends are always willing subjects.

Thank you! Considering how many pictures I have of my dogs- who really don’t change much after the first year or do THAT many really cool things, I can’t imagine how many pictures I’ll eventually have of my kids
