Our first stop in Tamarindo was at our stunning hotel Los Altos de Eros. At this point I was running very low on battery in both cameras & trying to ration photos, otherwise I’d have tons more of this beautiful property. At only 4 regular rooms & 1 suite, this place is tiny, but they make up for in the 5-star service. The rooms are situated around the pool & overlooking the ocean way off in the distance.

I will say that the rooms were very simple & very plain. We didn’t really need fancy, but for $500/night I was a little disappointed. Now, that price includes a ton of perks & benefits, like breakfast, lunch, beer, wine and smoothies all day long and a driver to take us into town at any time. Things like daily laundry were included & all our meals were multi-course, delicious events. If you wanted to stay on property for dinner, it was only $35/per person & a great bargain.

The shower was outdoors, which was neat some of the time, but it was raining almost constantly when we were there, so we took showers in the rain often. We had one of the forward rooms with a king bed & view down the mountain.

We didn’t actually see much of the sun in Tamarindo due to a tropical weather disturbance off the coast, but I spent several hours outside under the umbrellas during the rain enjoying reading my books.

This is the view from the lower deck, just above the spa, back towards our room. The spa was one of my favorite things about the hotel & they were running a half-off special while we were there & we had several treatments since we could do those in the rain. We got pedicures together again (like in Belize) and then I tried a coconut & honey body scrub which was majorly cool. I did the yoga 2 mornings, which was an extra $25/pp and I loved being outside in nature, surrounded by the rain and birds, sweating and getting really dirty as the breeze blew through the open-air studio.

The best spa thing is the couples massage, which is included in the honeymoon package. You get a message together, a platter of strawberries & a bottle of champagne to enjoy while in the hot tub, and then they bring dinner down to the spa and you have the whole place to yourself for the evening.

So one of the absolute best things about Los Altos was meal times. Most guests opted to eat at the hotel every night & the meals were scrumptious! We really enjoyed sitting around with the other guests, visiting with them, swapping travel stories, sharing how we ended up in a tiny resort 30 minutes on a crazy bumpy road from Tamaridno and the beaches.

After serving us a 3-course meal, the staff would clean up and leave all the guests with the night security and a full stocked bar! Even when the staff was there, they waited on us constantly- helping us set up excursions and booking things for us. They were really wonderful & extremely pampering.

This is a very small hotel & the downside is that it’s far from the city. We really enjoyed it- no TV in the room (but a large on in the living room/lounge area) and wifi throughout the property. If you want intimate, fancy, friendly and beautiful, the Los Altos de Eros is an amazing location.
GOOD NEWS OF THE DAY: Played hubby in tennis this past weekend & we hope to make it a weekly Sunday afternoon date.

Wow! I’m totally putting this place down as somewhere I will definitely be going! This little resort seems just perfect! I’m quite intrigued by the outdoor shower, too!
