Since we booked our entire last minute trip though a travel agent, they suggest we stay our one night in San Jose at the Grano de Oro hotel.

It was an old house that had been converted and added onto. The outside and entry were super-sleek and modern, but the inside looked quaint and homey.

The maze of hallways opened into various atriums and gardens along the way which was super neat & our bedroom door opened into a small, private little garden with a fountain.

There was a small garden deck with a hot tub and sun lounge area, but the best part of the hotel was the open air dining in the beautiful courtyard surrounded by open windows and gorgeous stained glass. I was expecting everything to be brutally hot & humid here, like home, but the weather was incredibly pleasant.

A bar/lounge and dining area looked both out onto the streets and into the courtyard. Breakfast was included and yummy, and we sat at the bar after our city tour waiting for our driver to take us to our next destination. The waitress mixed up some delicious drinks with fresh fruit juices, and we utilized the free internet while waiting.
GOOD NEWS OF THE DAY: Lazy summer Sunday of swimming laps at the gym & splashing with the puppies at the pool too.
