Parks of San Jose

Although there really isn’t anything huge to see in San Jose, I was very impressed with their tons of beautiful parks. Our guide told us the significance of this sculpture- something about one of the other countries trying to take over Costa Rica and other Latin American countries, but they turned him back.

One of the main reasons hubby wanted to check out San Jose was that he likes to see Capitol buildings.  However, there really wasn’t much to see here- no spectacular Congress or President’s home.  Just a regular building adjacent to a really pretty park.

Our next stop was at  Parque Esplana and they had a fair going on with tons of activities for families and this cool clown giving a free show to the kids.

There were neat buildings and architecture all around the park.

They had all sorts of games for the kids, a skate & bike course, lots of food to try like the chocolate above and even yoga in the park with  live music.

Walking through the park on a Saturday with all of it’s beautiful trees and regular families out was probably our favorite part of the city tour.

Not actually in the city, but our guide pulled over and spotted this 3-toed sloth just hanging out in some trees.  This was probably the closest we got to wildlife (minus bugs) during our entire trip.

GOOD NEWS OF THE DAY: So good to finally sleep in today & we are taking the boys ice skating.
