Emerald Lake

Our second stop on the loop around Lake Tahoe was at the ever-gorgeous Emerald Lake.  One of the more famous and picturesque spots, it never fails to deliver stunning scenery and breathtaking views.

More like a little cove with an island than an actual lake, the tour boats love to cruise around the calm waters and steep cliffs.

More of  my favorites –> Mountains + Trees + Water = PERFECT!

The little island with a castle has an interesting history and there were several signs explaining how a wealthy woman ended up living in such isolation.

From one side of the lake, you could see the shoreline beach & another scenic pull-out to stop for great views.

This is a great little stop & there are tons of trail heads in this area that lead to spectacular hikes up into the mountains to see rivers, lakes and waterfall.

GOOD NEWS OF THE DAY: Barely made it 8 miles this morning, but did hit my goal of 20 for the week & we are going to the  movies tonight.

  2. Your photos are absolutely stunning. Emerald Lake definitely looks like a place I would love to relax with a book and take a ton of pictures myself! It’s hard to believe places this beautiful truly exist.

Thank you! It’s so easy to photograph such beautiful places….I seriously need to get out of Houston sometime, somewhere, somehow- even if temporarily to enjoy all the beauty!
