After thoroughly enjoying the view and our lunch at Hurricane Ridge in Olympic National Park, we wanted to take a little walk since we’d been sitting in the car for such a long time. We walked past the lodge & down a road that was still closed towards the picnic areas that hadn’t been plowed yet.

We ran into these two deer & just watched the cross the road in as they searched for more food. It was really neat to be so close to them & see them in the wild.

After a short walk, we came to a clearing with another gorgeous view where we could see all the way back to Puget Sounds. I was too lazy to get out the good lens, so I took a few pics for another quick pano.

I loved the seeming randomness of snow cover still on this mountain- it somehow reminded me of a reverse golf course where the fairways are white instead of green and the trees were the hazards.

Using the super-zoom and some cropping, we could see the water and even the island of Vancouver off in the distance across the Straight of Juan de Fuca.

I wasn’t sure what was going on here, but it didn’t look good for the forest. I’m not sure if it was a fire or some type of pest that was causing large swaths of trees to turn gray/brown.
GOOD NEWS OF THE DAY: My 11 mile morning run nearly killed me after an exhausting week, but I did it!

omg. this is amazing!!!
Oh my goodness! What beautiful shots. The up close ones of the deer are just breathtaking. Looking forward to meeting you tomorrow!
Thank you very much- I’m excited too
wow! absolutely breathtaking! you make me want to take a break from International traveling and just enjoy what our own country has to offer!
I know- we keep saying the same thing! Hubby said we had a week to go anywhere & I begged him to do 9 days in Hawaii or Yellowstone/Tetons, but he insisted we go international. After getting back from Costa Rica, I’m kinda bummed we didn’t stay stateside and explore more.
