Our destination at Olympic National Park was Hurricane Ridge Visitor’s Center & this stunning view immediately caused me to breakout my super-wide angle lens in a feeble attempt to capture all the beauty from one peak looking out to dozens more.

There’s a great little lookout point with a shop, tours, restrooms and dining. We were lucky enough to sit out on the patio in the sun enjoying our picnic lunch with a view more gorgeous than the most expensive restaurants I’ve been too.

Thanks to my uncle & the peak diagram above, I was able to determine that this set of peaks was collectively know as Mt Olympus. One is slightly taller than the rest, but this is the highest mountain in the Olympic Range.

We quickly noticed a herd of deer leisurely wandering around and enjoying some lunch too.

All around us, at this altitude, there was still tons of snow, but the teeny baby deer reminded us that spring was indeed here.

Seriously happy to be standing right there, feeling the warm sun, the cool breeze, the fresh air, so close to nature and surrounded by some of the most beautiful thing I think God makes. Too bad it’s not summer there year round and I don’t think I could survive winter living on a mountaintop.

The striking contrast between the permanence and enormity of the mountains with a newborn deer no bigger than a cat was humbling.

There were lots of people at the visitor’s center, but it wasn’t too crowded and I was just glad we caught it on a sunny day. I couldn’t resist firing off a few shots and creating a panorama of how the valley, filled with snow, dropped down from us to showcase the Olympics standing majestically in front of us.
GOOD NEWS OF THE DAY: Walked around the University of Michigan campus last night eating stooges ice cream.
