I resisted the MP3 craze for far too long. I had the iRiver T10 2GB above about 5 years ago, but it was so difficult to get songs on & off the darn thing that I rarely used it. All that changed 2.5 years ago when I was graced with my first iMac & took the Apple plunge. I started moving my collection of hundreds of songs onto my computer & bought my first iPod, a purple Nano 16GB about 2 years ago. Since getting my iPhone 2 years ago, I’ve become completely spoiled by the luxury of having my entire music collection with me at all times and I’ve more recently started running with my phone instead of the nano. I’ve bought & downloaded so many more songs & CD’s the past few years now that it is so easy & cheap. I can buy single songs, I can buy used (like new) CD’s from Amazon, I get tons of free song download credits to try a few songs here & there or snag something that is topping the charts on any given week.

I’ve had such a passion for music my whole life- singing at the top of my lungs since I was a child. All that energy and enthusiasm didn’t exactly translate into very much talent. I played around with the piano a bit as a child- teaching myself through books when I was in elementary school. In Junior High, I joined the band and was a mighty fine French Horn player for 3 years before giving it up for volleyball in High School. Growing up, I had my stereo with a record player & a double tape deck to record the radio always pulsating at full blast in my room. I eventually acquired one of those fancy yellow Sports Walkmans in early high school where I wore out a Pearl Jam’s debut album on cassette tape. Traveling long distances in college for volleyball games, my trusty discman would endlessly loop on Sarah McLachlan’s soulful and somber ballads that made you cry and want to sing along at the same instant.

A few weeks ago, I instantly feel in love with Adele’s first release from her second album- 21. The heart and soul to the lyrics of Rolling in the Deep are both catchy & poignant. For all the women with broken hearts, shattered dreams and remnants of a life lost to a long-gone live, the angry & bitter words are what you would want to tell so many men- “We could have had it all….”. On a whim, I ordered the whole album & I can honestly say I have been in lust ever since. It’s one of those albums that you play through from beginning to end & sing along as she pours out her heart. Just about every day for several weeks, when I needed a pick me up & to distress, I played 21 and am amazed by Adele’s incredible vocal talent and am reminded of all the thorns of young love filled with passion, promise, heartbreak and undying love. My other absolute favorite song on the albums is “Set Fire to the Rain”, but they are all great songs & I hardly ever fast-forward past any of them.

I’m so inspired and infatuated with her album, I want to pass along the love & give away her album to one of my lovely readers. Share with me one of your favorite albums that you can’t live without these days by Sunday night & I will randomly select winner to get a brand new copy of Adele’s 21. I’m always looking for new music- all genres welcome!
P.S. I’ve been told people might be having some difficulty commenting. I’m not sure if it’s my blog or them. If you have any problems, feel free to email me at clickthegoodnews@gmail.com. Thanks & good luck!
GOOD NEWS OF THE DAY: I don’t normally do 2 posts in a day, but I’m getting behind & wanted to celebrate that I just bought 2 tickets to her show in the Woodlands this fall.

” On a whim, I ordered the whole album & I can honestly say I have been in lust ever since.” – Love your honesty, so funny! It’s so great how music can do that you.
One of my favorite albums is still The Black Eyed Peas – The E.N.D. – This has been out for over a year now, but every time I listen to it, I think of when we were packing to move, (1 year ago) it was like 2:00 AM and the movers were coming at 7:00 AM that morning. To stay awake, me and my husband would have to take dance breaks where we would turn up a song on this CD and dance. We would be so tired, but we would make ourselves dance to wake up and keep going.
I like to turn it on at our home often and we always end up trying to dance like we are in the band. – Not even close.
Love Adele’s voice!
I, too, adore Adele, though I dislike how overplayed “Rolling in the Deep” has become in my area. The album of the moment for me is Brothers by The Black Keys. My husband and I just saw them at Milwaukee’s Summerfest; they put on a great show.
Thanks for sponsoring this fun giveaway!
That’s too funny- I’m trying to get my husband to dance with me more. We did a ton of country and salsa dancing right before and after we were married. That’s a great album- I’ve already got a few of their songs on my running playlist. I will check out the rest of them.
Thanks for the rec- I’ve heard good things about them, so I will put it on my wishlist. I hardly ever listen to the radio anymore, but I have heard it a few times that I was in the car driving. Hopefully some of the other songs will get some airplay and they will give RTD a break.
I have downloaded a few songs from Adele’s 21 and love them. I love “Turning Tables” and was actually singing along at the top of my lungs this morning while working out (a sight and sound that always makes my 2 boys laugh because I belt it out while wearing my earbuds so they get the crappy rendition of the song which elicites laughs and I can’t hear myself sing – a win, win).
Becky, I love the Black Keys too and love Howlin’ for You. Lately, I am really into this Scottish band called Frightened Rabbit. Check out “The Lonliness and the Deep” or “Backward Walk” but I love anything by them. I also was really wild about Arcade Fire’s newest album, The Suburbs when it came out but I have gotten a bit tired of it lately. My fault though cuz I totally overplayed it. Also liking Joy Formidible.
