My last stop on my mini wine tour was at Tulip Valley Vineyard & Orchard in Mt. Vernon with their tasting room in a neat old red barn.

The whole area is known for it’s gorgeous flowers and especially tulips- but I wasn’t there in the blooming season for most of the flowers, but they did have a few beautiful ones blooming.

This was the first place I’d stopped where they didn’t even charge for tastings! I loved how they had their wines and ciders listed on the chalkboard.

I opted to try a few of the wines & even sipped on a cider. I’ve never really developed a taste for them- maybe I need to live somewhere colder to really appreciate a good hot cider? I also tried a pear wine- which was refreshingly light and sweet, and it would be perfect for hanging out around the pool in the summer

I browsed through a gorgeous tulip book about the area & was sad I couldn’t stay longer to sit on their back porch and enjoy their vineyard and orchard views.

A great little stop & something different than most of the other wineries- I’d really love to see this area in tulip season when the fields are covered in bright colors.
GOOD NEWS OF THE DAY: Glorious, glorious rain should be coming to Houston today to start putting a dent in our drought.

I love that the tasting room is in that old barn… too cute. Awesome photos too!
Fingers crossed on that rain!
