Back to finishing up my Washington State photos. At the north end of Whidbey Island, there is a beautiful suspension bridge to get off the island instead of a ferry. Deception Pass State Park is at the tip of the island & sounded cool enough to lure me to Whidbey Island in the first place.

I initially drove into the park and set off on a short hike down to the beach. The forest there is stunning- enormous trees towering over me and huge in diameter. Even more beautiful were all the giant trees that lined the shoreline near the water’s edge.

I had to climb over several fallen logs to make it down to the rocky beach & enjoy the view of Deception Pass.

They did provide a great camera tripod where I tossed the camera on a time delay and hopped across them to get into place in front of the bridge before hiking up to the top.

Little did I know, but there is actually a parking lot at the bridge and I didn’t need to go into the park and then hike up. I enjoyed the short hike though & had fun taking pictures from the top of the bridge, where there is a pedestrian walkway and a cross-over at either end of the bridge.

It was very windy on the bridge, but it was really neat to see the waters below- they were swirling and flowing with an incredibly strong current. This was a beautiful little break in the driving & totally worth the trip out to Whidbey Island to have such gorgeous views. I didn’t cross over to the other side of the bridge since I still had to hike back down to my car in the park.
GOOD NEWS OF THE DAY: Back from Costa Rica & headed on an airplane again today to Lubbock.

The picture you took of the rocky beach with fallen tree’s is so so beautiful. I wanted to say perfect because it is a great photograph, but I kept thinking beautiful. Everything from the sky, the blue blue water, the rocks, and the hints of green.
