Last San Diego post- I was treated to some stunning views as we departed the airport, flew out over the Pacific and then looped back heading west.

Such beautiful water color, spectacular cliffs and powerful waves.

A nice view of Cabrillo National Monument on Point Loma- the first place a westerner stepped on to the West Coast.

The view of Coronado Island from the air reveals the stark difference between the military base and the resort town.

After seeing that bridge, maybe I am glad that the marathon didn’t go out and back to Coronado Island.

The main airport is squeezed in between the marine and the Marine Corp Recruit Depot where basic training is always underway.

Even though basic training is tough, the awesome weather in San Diego would make it so much more tolerable than having to go through it in South Carolina with t he extreme hot and cold temperatures.

We flew over the last few miles of the route on the bay, including Fiesta Island and I’m glad they had changed the marathon route so that we only ran about half the island instead of doing the whole perimeter the last few miles of the marathon before heading into SeaWorld.

The left side of the plane was a goldmine for great shots like this one of downtown & the Embarcadero waterfront.
GOOD NEWS OF THE DAY: Off to explore Whidbey Island today & meet up with some friends for dinner.

Wow – I just scrolled through all the photos from your trip – it just looks amazing. Have to get out there to see San Diego one of these days. A family member is hoping to move out there in a few years, so I keep saying I’ll go then – that way I can also visit them while I’m there.
Thanks! I’d been a few times for work before, but this was my first tourist trip & was just amazed at the beauty and the perfect weather. Hopefully you’ll make it out there too soon!
