Departing Old Town, we headed back to the coast near where we left off exploring on Friday evening & found ourselves at this incredible overlook near the University of San Diego at San Diego.

I *think* that is Monument Point & one of the places that we had to skip on our only day of sightseeing.

Lots of research and environmental organizations along the coast in this area & even more were being built.

Suddenly, H caught a glimpse of something moving below us & we spotted a wild fox just out for a walk.

We continued driving north up the coast & finally pulled over in a residential area near Del Mar and were thrilled to walk to the end of the road and have this amazing view of the cliffs & beach below.

We passed by this cool little State Park just up the road, but couldn’t stop & turn quick enough to check it out ourselves.

There are streets & streets of houses right behind the railroad tracks that all have this amazing view & there were tons of people out walking, jogging, surfing, hanging out with dogs.

Seriously- so pretty! I think it was this stop that made us both fall a little further in love with California & we both vowed to get back there on vacation again ASAP.

There weren’t too many dining places on the water, so we hopped into the Chart House in Cardiff-by-the-Sea at sat at their bar with glass windows in front of us enjoying the ocean view & dining on some delicious seafood.

We watched a guy out there paddle-boarding for a while when we suddenly noticed a group of dolphins playing in the water near him. Just one or two at first, but it turned into a fairly large group & the surfers started paddling towards the dolphins & eventually got very close (touched?) them even. Such cool freaking entertainment!

I really wanted to make it to sunset on the sea, but we still had another hour or so before it would fully set & I was eager to get rested up for the marathon after our big day exploring. We did catch some beautiful sunset photos when we returned to our hotel downtown.

Just to top it off, as we drove inland to hop on the highway back to town, we were greeted with hot air balloons! I’ve usually only heard of them going up during the morning, that it would be an amazing way to see a sunset!
GOOD NEWS OF THE DAY: Off for a full week on the road in Seattle & Tahoe- some fun and some work.
