Leaving Coronado, it was tempting to make the quick 5 mile drive south to the border, but we settled instead for a walk around Old Town.

The original city, this area just north of town in the hills was filled with Mexican food restaurants (at least 10 or m ore!) and we stumbled upon a little summer street festival.

Further into town, there were lots of little replica buildings & numerous trinket shops selling junk.

There was a very old homestead (maybe 200 years old?) and several plazas and squared filled with more shopping.

There was a beautiful old church & we even caught glimpse of a beautiful girl on her Quinceanera day.

And our post to Old Town wouldn’t be complete without mentioning the low-riders. There were several of them just cruising up & down the street seeking attention. It was all very quintessential California & it cracked hubby up.
GOOD NEWS OF THE DAY: My new work computer is freaking awesome- lightening fast, internet everywhere & I will be able to edit photos on it.

I love visiting Coronado, but I have never visited the old town. Looks like a neat place to visit next time I go there. The low-rider picture cracks me up, so random there.
Oooh that looks so pretty. Kinda reminds me of San Antonio a bit, I guess it’s the Mexican ties?
Yes! Very much so. Or, if you are from Houston, a Mexican Old Town Spring.
I wish we’d had more time & done a tour to actually get some HISTORY there and know more about the significane, but we were really pressed for time. Great for shopping & great for history- both of which we skipped!
