From flying in to flying out of San Diego, I took over 700 photos in 2.5 days! I’ve started with the marathon & I’m working my way back around. Not quite finished yet, but wanted to get started with posting. Although I’ve been to San Diego last year, we flew into LA & drove. I was surprised at how different the landscape was than flying into LA. My first pleasant surprised was this cool skinny sand dunes.

We were on a late evening flight & the setting sun gave a golden glow to the amazing patterns formed by the wind.

So this was a cool photo of the evening fog hiding the rolling hills, right until I could see all the dust on my sensor! Gah!!!! I just had my camera cleaned & can’t figure out how/why there is so much mess in my camera/lens. I need to check it at home to make sure it’s the camera and not the lens. Usually they don’t show up unless I’m taking a shot of a solid background & Lightroom can help me get rid of them a little bit.

Next fun thing we flew over was these rocky green outcroppings. I wonder if these are green year-round or if a recent storm had spurred the spring growth.

I was expecting to see the sandy, dry desserts that I normally encounter flying over this part of the country, but this reminded me of the ruggedness and beauty of New Zealand.

The landscape changed again dramatically as we started flying over lush forests and trees.

I loved this little hill-top clearing with a lovely little lake that makes somebody a fabulous home.
GOOD NEWS OF THE DAY: No pretty landscape photos into or out of Lubbock.
