Leaving Las Vegas

I almost always carry my big camera on trips out west cause I can usually get some great landscape photos, and I love grabbing this shot of the strip as I headed home.

But even more exciting and beautiful were the landscapes of the rocky and rugged desert Southwest. I *think* this might even be the Colorado River just as we were leaving Vegas.

Totally reminds me that I want to do a rafting and camping trip down the Colorado River and through the Grand Canyon some day.

Some of the colors out the earth were amazing. I am fascinated by how the land goes from every shade of brown to dark greens and then into a mix of reds and oranges.

And then these colorful crop circles made me excited to teach fractions again. I can just imagine a farmer on the ground slicing up his land into quarters and fifths and halves to plant various crops and till the land at different times.

GOOD NEWS OF THE DAY: Record breaking temperatures here already, but I feel worse for those up in the Northeast where it’s getting this hot!  The only good news about this is that we have some pretty awesome A/C that I’d be miserable without.
