Last Nashville post with “everything else” before I get around to my race re-cap. We continued driving the marathon course and headed up north to leave a goody bag for me around mile 14 and were on the side of town hubby had been to before for his meetings. He advised me that we *MUST* stop for lunch at Monnells, a dining extravaganza of Southern comfort food served family style. The food was amazing & the platters just kept on coming- coleslaw, fried chicken, fried fish (on Friday’s), pasta salad, potato salad, green beans, greens, corn casserole, cornbread, lasagna, cucumber salad and many more. Amazing lunch & such a bargain!

After that lunch, we needed to walk around, so we parked at Bicentennial Park- which is an amazing little area designed after the National Mall in DC and had many things dedicated to Nashville’s 200 years.

Since both of us are history buffs, we enjoyed waking along the sidewalk with a time line of Tennessee’s history.

A bit further north, there were some great views of the capitol building and downtown in front of the the park & farmer’s market from the hill below.

We wandered over to the farmer’s market so we could be jealous of all the fresh produce and wonderful smelling flowers.

Managed to use the timer function on my camera for a shot of hubby and I in front of the beautiful capitol hill & by the ginormous map of Tennessee with all the cities, countries, rivers and road beautifully laid out on the gorund.

Our last tourist stop was by the Hermitage, President Andrew Jackson’s home, on our way to the airport. I thought it would be a short, quick little tour, but they had a whole museum and home to explore (which I didn’t allow enough time for). He was quite a fascinating president & hearing about how his wife died after he was elected but before he was sworn into office was so tragic.

We skipped past the museum & went straight for 30 minutes on the home tour- which was pretty cool & then we quickly checked out where he was buried before heading off the the airport to pick up my BFF.

The grounds were beautiful & ridiculously tall trees blocked me getting a better view of his home.

And finally time to rush to the airport to pick up Stephanie & get her to the expo before closing time! We ended up trying to find a non-packed pasta/pizza place not-downtown & ended up with a wonderful dinner at Mellow Mushroom.
GOOD NEWS OF THE DAY: A massage scheduled for tonight instead of class!

HOLY COW. Your images are gorgeous, breathtaking. I love all the color. It makes me want to be there! I haven’t been to Nashville since I was six years old! Travesty!
