One of the bigger tourist areas in Nashville is a strip of Broadway that is home to more than a dozen clubs, bars and pubs.

Again- I love the mix of old hole-in-the-wall joints that have a legendary history sitting in the shadows of some fancy new buildings.

Tootsies is one of the more famous bars & we actually ended up there later in the evening. The marathon started out west of the city and ran all the way into town along Broadway past lots of fans in this area.

Our first stop was Legends- a corner pub that’s a regular stop for all the Greyline bus tours. I love that ALL the places had live music doing in the middle of the afternoon on a Thursday! This guy was pretty decent- working the crowd, jamming out, and hustling for tips to make a living.

I was really much more fascinated with all the old memorabilia and collectors items on the walls- they had some really fun stuff.

We continued walking down the street- having a very intense debate about the acceptable number of drinks to have 2 days pre-race.

We decided a second (or third or forth) round wouldn’t hurt us much as long as we drank plenty of water on Friday. We popped into Tootsies and grabbed a seat at the bar as this awesome little band came onstage.
The girls were so young, but so talented! All of the crammed on the stage & one singer occasionally singing from the top of the bar. They played lots of oldies where the whole crowd could sing along- so SO fun!!

The place started getting really crowded as the sunset, so we headed out to grab some Italian and tun in early for the evening.

Here’s a fun little corner of Nashville. Oh the irony! And no- you really shouldn’t make this a stop on your trip here, those are all strip clubs down the alley.
GOOD NEWS OF THE DAY: Well, made it to May before I started getting really behind on blogging! Skipping Minneapolis this weekend because the weather looks questionable for a baseball game, so maybe I”ll get caught up on photos and blogging.
