I just wanted to do a quick PSA for other bloggers- both those who read bogs and write blogs. My blogging knowledge is pretty limited, but I do like to pass along things that I find useful & I think others would like. Let me introduce you to Gravatar- the global avatar. It’s a simple solution to having a photo show up when you leave a comment on any blog where you include an email address that’s liked into Gravatar.
This is how I see all the comments on the back-end of my blog. It shows the name you enter, your email address, the comment, your blog link if you tell me & it shows me a picture if you have signed up with Gravatar. It makes me really happy to see faces!
Also, on the actual posts themselves, whatever picture your register with is shown beside your comment. You can register multiple email addresses, depending on what type of blogs you are commenting on & have it display different photos, or change photos at any time. I love “seeing” other people when I go to comment on a blog & only in the past few months realized how they were making their photo show up. Just remember to use whatever email address you are leaving the comment with so Gravatar will associate them. As of right now, Gravatars only work with WordPress sites, but you can sign up so your comments show up with a face on other people’s wordpress blogs.

What a helpful post. I only learned about Gravatar about a month ago myself. Actually, my husband did, when I asked him how all the other bloggers got photos to show up next to their comments!
I have a BlogEngine site, not wordpress, and the Gravatars are working there too!
