Inner Harbor

This post actually goes with the last- I just took one big walk around the perimeter of the Inner Harbor & these are the most westward things.  Again, the National Aquarium had some very cool architecture for it’s 3 large buildings.

If you can see inside the glass, it’s some type of type of tropical landscape built into and up in the pyramid shape.

I had really hoped to take the little water taxi around the harbor for a quick tour to see more, but couldn’t find any more information about schedules.

And yet another boat museum- I had no idea about them when I was there, but it was neat reading up on them afterward.

Although not quite like the former ones in NYC, I wanted to go up to the observation deck for a great view, but it was only open on certain days.

Another part of the maritime boat museums, but I adore silly little faces painted on boats.  I was always assuming submarines were massive things & their sheer size made up for the possibility of having to stay underwater for extended periods of time.  This sub would be waaay to small for me to want to stay down for weeks on end!

I thought these fancy paddle-boats were adorable- I wonder if there is some significance to the dragons or if they were just whimsical?

Yup- still another museum ship hanging out in the harbor.

This one totally reminds me of a Pirates of Caribbean ship & I’m sad there was no water taxi in sight at the stop above.  That’s the Baltimore World Trade Center there on the left :)

I did enjoy walking down to the end and looking back at all the ships & museums.

I walked all the way to the visitors center waiting for a taxi & getting cold (I wasn’t dressed for the wind!).  A few *interesting* people, but generally a fine mix of tourists and joggers out enjoying a beautiful spring day.

I decided to hop into Phillip’s to enjoy a bowl of hot soup & a happy hour drink to warm me up since I wasn’t feeling my fingers or toes at this point.  I did get back downtown one other night to meet up with some friends & loved the architecture of all the buildings and there were some really neat sculptures that I wished I could check out if it wasn’t so late.  All in all, Baltimore was a much nicer town than I had anticipated, especially downtown in the Spring.  I did take a wrong turn once off the freeway & ended up in a very sketchy part of town that made me more than a bit nervous, but the same thing could happen in just about any town.

GOOD NEWS OF THE DAY: Many thanks to Laura at Lovebugs Photography Designs for quickly helping me get some WordPress coding cleaned up on the back-end of the blog!  I was starting to get nervous not having my backup routine working properly.  Check her out if you need design work or technical blog assistance.

Thank you so much! It had been a few weeks since I’d traveled & I was getting all twitchy to get out and explore somewhere new. I was really surprised how much the city had to offer.
