My photo-flight pictures are a bit out of order now as I tried to group similar things for better post organization & doing a little loop around the city brought us by downtown for two different views of my beloved skyline.

Downtown Houston has really evolved in the last 10-20 years. Growing up, nobody wandered downtown after dark or on weekends, but a big push to bring life back into the city has really paid off. They have really invested in the parks & greenspaces around and inside the downtown area.

Starting with building our baseball stadium, Minute Maid Park, downtown (out of the famed Astrodome) and building a new basketball (and concert) arena in town (out of the Summit) has really encouraged restaurants and bars to flourish inside the loop.

Although the city’s tallest building isn’t downtown, I love the architecture of a few of the other skyscrapers & feel inspired to go on another architecture walk downtown to capture some of my favorite towering giants of steel and concrete.

We have several very large & fairly new courthouses downtown (where Mark & Pam were officially married), and of course there is our strange and art-deco looking Convention center in the background (the start and end of the marathon every year) that sits in front of our brand new urban park- Discovery Green. I’m really happy to see downtown doing so well- so many families and young people, so many concerts and festivals, tons of original and delicious restaurants.
GOOD NEWS OF THE DAY: Slightly late, but IT’S APRIL and I’m super excited for a jam packed & fun birthday month!!!
