Mia & the Squirrels

This little guy (or gal!) has been Mia’s nemsis for a few weeks now.  I’ve seen at least 3 squirrels in our yard, but there’s one that jumps around through all the trees from rooftop to rooftop around our yard as Mia chases her.

Poor poor trees!  It’s not helping that Mia spends most of her yard time trampling through  my flowerbeds desperately waiting for the squirrels to appear again.

One afternoon, Ms. Squirrel just decided to lounge on the peak of our roof & soak up the gorgeous spring sun.  Otherwise, she’s running through all the trees that are still waiting on their summer leaves to come in.

Mia jumps like a maniac up to the fence if she sees them.  Otherwise, she will obsessionally get on her back legs and wait patiently until she sees movement.

I captured this video (LURVE my new camera with video) of the squirrel coming down & just flicking its tail at Mia- temping her to chase it when it knows it’s safe  in the trees.

For some real fun, the squirrel will take off running down the fence – which entails an alternating visible and hidden mad dash as the dogs scurry to chase it on its great run.

*BOUNCE BOUNCE*

I can’t believe she can get her head up above the 6′ high fence.

Love my zoom lens & all my MP’s for cropping.  I realize some people think they are just rats with tails, but I think squirrels are cute.

More running & chasing.  More mad dashes.

If there are no signs of the invaders in sight, I can get Mia to play for a pretty good while with her Frisbee.  I still need to get some good shots of her catching it, but I’ll have to wait until hubby is around to throw it while I click away.

GOOD NEWS OF THE DAY: Oh- happy day! Running, yoga and then camping with friends!

Ella has a similar squirrel nemsis here in our yard who does the same tail waving and chattering all from a spot Ella can’t get him in. I love the pictures of Mia bouncing!
