Sunday Scribblings #257: Whether it be vegetables or feelings, wind or simply uncooked, there are a lot of places you could go with: raw.

Seeing as the most popular Google Image Search for Raw is wrestling, I’ll take a brief moment to mention that I loath wrestling. I can sort of stand boxing- I at least see the point and appreciate the training and athleticism involved, but I got no love for WWF (or RAW, or even most MMA or UFC). The closest I can come to understanding it is that somebody once explained it’s similar to a night time soap opera for men.
I do see one related image up there & that is photography related. On my dSLR camera, I shot in RAW format. Most point & shot cameras take a JPEG photo, where such things like exposure, white balance, contrast, brightness and saturation are selected by the camera. I want the ability to control those things, so I recorded raw data in camera & then use Adobe Photoshop Lightroom to “digitally develop” my photos to my tastes and specifications before making them into a JPEG format.
First thoughts on the word raw are food related. Since reading In Defense of Food, I have been moved to eat more raw (or whole) types of foods like fruits & vegetables and eat less processed and assimilated foods. I don’t eat many things raw- perhaps just a few sushi and some ceviche. I’d really like to do more of a raw diet, but I’m a food fraidy-cat. Supposedly it’s very good for dogs to eat raw foods, even an entirely raw diet. I wish I had the patience to prepare their meals, but we just stick with buying really high quality dog food.
I like doing Sunday Scribblings because it’s a time of raw writing. Some totally random topic that I can usually find several paragraphs worth of thoughts floating around in my head that I can put down into words. It’s a time to be a little more real & deep than just all the cute & fun photos about life that I post the other 6 days of the week. It’s a chance to capture my opinions and rationalizations on a variety of topics that are more stream-of-conscious on whatever topic pops up on Sunday mornings.
GOOD NEWS OF THE DAY: My Jeep miraculously passed its state inspection, though I do still need to get new tires at some point.
