Sunset Bar & Grill

Slightly out of order here, but I forgot to upload a video that I’d intended for today’s post, so I’ll go with my post about the Sunset Bar & Grill in Ambergris.  Most of the places on the island face East towards the reef, so there aren’t many great sunsets that direction.  I love nothing more  than watching an amazing sunset, so I had to go check out the Sunset Bar & Grill on the west side of the island, especially after I heard about their tarpon feeding.   The restaurant is out over the water & you can watch some of the local cleaning their fish as the sun goes down.  We weren’t lucky enough to get a super gorgeous sunset, but I had a ton of fun with the tarpon.

The restaurant provides free samples baggies of fish that you can use to get the tarpon to jump.  They start circling down by the pier & there were quite a few people that tried their hand at feeding them.

I decided it to give it a whirl & handed my camera to hubby.  I was awed at how far out of the water these fish can jump.  Supposedly they don’t have teeth, but I really didn’t want my hand in their mouth to find out for myself.

Excuse the bad hair in a headband- I’d been sitting out by the beach all afternoon & was too lazy to wash it again.  I feed the tarpon a few fish & got pretty darn wet along the way as they splash around lots of water in their quest for a nibble.

We were pretty full from our snacks at the wine bar, so we had salads & a dessert.  Other people’s meals looked plenty tasty & there appeared to be quite a few repeat guests.  We didn’t get a great sunset, but it was still fun & entertaining, plus I always enjoy being right on the water for a meal.

GOOD NEWS OF THE DAY: I’ve been watching Erin Cobb’s Clean Color Workflow & really enjoyed seeing how a “Pro” edits photos in Photoshop.
