SS: Thousand Years

Sunday Scribblings #254: The prompt this week is: a thousand years.

———————————————————————–

A thousand years is a really long time.  If I’m super lucky, I might be alive 100 years or 10% of a millennium.  Sad to say, I don’t really know much about history or what was going on 1,000 years ago.  I’m  pretty sure that was the Middle Ages, specifically characterized by nothing remarkable that I can remember other than the general spread of Christianity via the crusades.  Spending time reflecting on the magnitude of human history, it seems like progress was in slow motion for hundreds of years until recently.  So many changes from the 1800′s to the 1900′s, which were dwarfed by the changes that led into the 2000′s.  It seems that life, technology, and progress are moving exponentially faster every passing decade & I can hardly fathom where we will be as a civilization in 100 years in the future, much less another thousand into the future.  I do worry about the negative impact we have on our environment and if the population growth is sustainable with the limited resources we have, or will humans take to living in the seas or space?

GOOD NEWS OF THE DAY: A wonderful long weekend in Belize comes to an end & we are returning to the real world.
