The 610 West Loop has long been one of the hopping areas of town. For years when downtown Houston was a ghost town on nights & weekends, there was always a buzz around the Galleria area with it’s luxury shopping mall, along Westheimer & Richmond Avenues with their happening restaurants and clubs, and with all of the most fit people of Houston showing off at Memorial Park. There used to just be a few residential high-rise buildings, but over the last 10 years, numerous new high-end meccas have made a mini-skyline about 5 mile outside of the real downtown.

The main east-west freeway in Houston is Interstate 10 & it runs right by the Galleria. They only finished simplifying the interchanges and adding dozens of travel lanes to ease congestion in this area.

The freeway inter-changes are so striking from above- their patterns & the intricate way all of the lanes mix & match, blend from one freeway to the next & form a seamless way to juggle tens of thousands of cars every day. And all those beautiful green trees- that’s our wonderful Memorial Park. At almost 1,500 acres, it’s one of the largest urban parks in the country & a source of great pride for Houstonians who run the jogging loop, golf in the city, bike the bayou & so much more.

This is the end of my road. State highway 290 officially ends (or begins) at the 610 West loop & goes hundreds of miles westward into some beautiful Texas hill country. They have been trying really hard the last few years to beautify the city, including planting thousands of trees & bushes inside the freeway interchanges. The maze of buildings is where H’s office is located, which is thankfully (sort of ) close to our house (relative to how far others in Houston drive) and centrally located to many of the customers he visits around town.
GOOD NEWS OF THE DAY: I am *this* close to being all caught up with my photos before I take a ton more this weekend.

[...] about time I posted a few more photos from our Houston fly-over since my last shot so I can finish them up some day. Memorial Park is our urban oasis with a biking and jogging [...]
