Arne’s Warehouse

Arne’s Warehouse is a Houston legend- THE place to get prepared for any and every party.  I have fond memories of going there with my grandparents decades ago getting ready for all their big parties.  I had the chance to go into town a few weeks back when I picked up decorations for Dad’s party.

The place is HUGE.  Like you could wander around here for days & spend a whole paycheck on all the fun stuff inside.  Obviously, the next big holiday is Valentine’s Day & all the pink, hearts decor was out in force.  Are there that many people that have Valentine’s day parties?  Is it just for kids at schools?

And then I talked into the Mardi Gras section.  I’d totally forgot this was coming up & wondered why we don’t celebrate this more often.  I have officially added “Fat Tuesday” onto my calendar as a repeating appointment so I won’t forget to party.

Beads and beads and more beads.  This reminds me I need to blog about my own Mardi Gras in New Orleans with Stephanie 2 months after I graduated college.

They of course of all the accessories in every color, shape and size for any type of party you want to throw. Aisle and aisles of rainbow colored paper goods & party happiness.

And of course, they have candy!  Must be for party favors or stocking stuffers.  They really have EVERYTHING you could ever imagine here for entertaining- serving trays, party platters, and things you never knew you needed until you behold an entire section of them.

And St. Patti’s Day- how could I forget?  It is one of the few holidays on the same date every year & who doesn’t love an excuse to drink green beer?

See? More randomness, but what party doesn’t need a boa (any color you want or all the colors!) or one of the dozens of Hawaiian leais right beside them.

Then I was on to the church? section.  That’s the only place I can imagine needing any of these fancy gold, white or silver plastic accessories.

Then there are the flowers- so many flowers!  This part of the story reminds me of Hobby Lobby cross-mixed with a Sams Club.

And the big attraction, for the biggest parties, are the Quinceañera accessories- gloves, tiaras, and more. On any given weekend, you can see multiple 15th birthday parties roaming around downtown celebrating a Latino lady’s coming of age.  H swears our kids are going to have one…..we shall see!

And that’s a quick tour & doesn’t even scratch the surface of all the fun that Arne’s sells (balloons, dog stuff, baby showers, themed child parties, cooking accessories, Rodeo, art supplies and more).  It was a neat experience to go back & puts me in the mood to throw more parties. :)

GOOD NEWS OF THE DAY:  The rolling power blackouts, while annoying with power on and off every 30-60 minutes, only last until about 1PM today.  Hopefully they won’t be back tonight.
