For lack of a better word, this is our “lounge” area a few days before we closed on our house. I was just thankful the owner took their old couch & table before we moved in. EVERY.SINGLE.WALL in our house was painted this light brown (toupe?) color when we moved in. We managed to paint our bedroom & utility room before moving in, I quickly painted the guest bedroom & eventually got around to painting my office. The kitchen & living room were re-painted during the re-model when we first moved in. But this room had been bugging me….
We put the same furniture from our sitting room we had in our old house in this huge room, but it was still missing something- it was just too blah for me!
So after Thanksgiving, I got the ball rolling to paint this room- get quote, find colors, get scheduled. So the painters finally show up on the 22nd- just 2 days before we are to host Christmas Eve at our house!
We knew they were coming and only bothered to stick about 15 ornaments on the tree so everything could be shoved to the middle of the room for painting.
They finished it by the evening of the 23rd & I had one day to finish decorating and get the gifts all ready to go.
Everybody was a bit skeptical about my color selection, but I loved how the blue & gray turned out together.
Unlike our old house with rounded corners, I like that each room has a very well-defined space & I can paint each room its own color.
I’m not crazy about the white rug, but haven’t bothered to loo for anything else right now.
This room has no overhead lighting, so we had to bring in two floor lamps. The room is still very spacious & our entire downstairs is very open- something that came in handy last weekend when we threw my dad a big birthday party.
