Sunday Scribblings #239: A Walk in the Park
Has anything been ‘a walk in the park’ for you? What does that mean? Is a walk in the park really the easiest thing we can do? Have you had a great real walk in a real park lately? Do you need me to tell you to go outside and take a walk in a park? Tell us about a walk in the park.

On a good day, I’ll tell ya life my life is a walk in the park. I’ve got a wonderful husband, a great job, amazing friends & everything I could ever want. I still have grouchy days, getting annoyed with my husband, frustrated about work or generally annoyed with the world. But I try to remind myself that I’ve got nothing to complain about.
There are some thing that come naturally to me that others really seem to struggle with throughout their lives. For me, school & especially anything related to math has been a walk in the park. I just get- it’s easy, I understand it, I enjoy it. I’m not sure if I should thank God, genetics, my parents, some great teachers & schools along the way, or some combination of all of them for my academic success and love for all things numerical. Although there was some doubt during the teenage years, being Type-A, ultra-organized, self-motivated and an over-achiever has always come fairly naturally to me.
Literally, walking in the park is awesome. I’m go lucky to have our running trail around our neighborhood where I have a safe place to run & a great place for the dogs to explore twice a week. There are a few parks (besides dog parks) around here that I can periodically take the dogs to or explore, and Houston is really trying to improve things. But when I think about parks, I sincerely miss Austin. There were so many greenbelts & parks, nearby lakes & camping spots that were a large part of the reason I adored that town. We do our best to get away & back into nature as often as we can squeeze a camping trip into our calendar & I definitely imagine myself as being too old to run one day, but still going out for my daily walk around the neighborhood, which will hopefully include a nice park or woods or place to roam in the country.
GOOD NEWS OF THE DAY: Chicken tortillas soup & a fireplace made for a wonderful evening.
