Sunday Scribblings #248: SO?! We are two days in to 2011 – any progress yet?

Nope, not too much progress yet on my goals for the year but I’ve got quite a few things I’d like to focus on this year. Although- having more fun, being more healthy & hanging out with my best friend is surely a great start to the new year. Seems like this is as good a place as any to talk about the progress and what direction I hope to see my life take these next 363 days of 2011.
EXERCISE- Although I ran a record number of miles last year, I have, for the first time in my adult life, fallen off of the gym/weights wagon. I’ll be heading back to the gym while keeping up my running schedule and knocking out as many marathons as possible this year. I have enjoyed trying a few yoga classes, and I hope to do more as a great way to prevent injury as I’m training so many miles this year. I can’t imagine running more miles this year, but I hope to be on my treadmill, working the hills, at least twice a week and get into the pool for some cross-training a few time a month.
BLOGGING & PHOTOGRAPHY- My main problem this year was that I just got really behind with moving & our New Zealand trip. I got behind on doing my yearly albums & doing my yearly blog review as I went along, but I will be better this year about keeping up as the year goes along. My goal is to do one post per day as time allows, starting with finishing up Christmas posts and blogging out all the excitement of New year in New York.
I’ve got 27 years of photographs before I started the blog & I hope to take more time this year to do Friday Flashback and memorialize some of my history and share some older photos. I think I’m 99% finished with update/changes/designing on the blog, so then I can focus on fixing some of the mechanics and back-end items.
I’m so excited to have my new camera & I want to attend more photography meet-ups and continue learning Adobe Photoshop. I am hoping to meet up with some local gals to get some practice and mentoring from them, plus attending some workshops this year.
LIFE & LOVE- We haven’t been working with Mia as much as we liked, but are committed to spending some time training her this year. Schedules have been so busy that I haven’t cooked as often as I’d like, but I want to get better & start teaching hubby some of the basics of throwing together a meal in the kitchen this year. I will continue volunteering at church and at GED for a few more months, but I am planning on taking a break later this year to spend time focusing on projects that I want to get finished. Work has been pretty insane with H, so our goal this year is to do a bit better about balancing all the demands of life with the fun things we want to do.
All in all, spend more time with friends, family and my amazing husband. That’s all I’ve got- nothing too ambitions or mighty, just a few small tweaks and things I’d like to make better and take steps to make some small progress.
GOOD NEWS OF THE DAY: I wrote most of this yesterday on the plane back from NY, but didn’t get a chance to publish it.
