Some other photographs from August that never made the blog are the ones of the custom home that my dad finished building. I think it’s taken him the better part of 2 years to finish this house, as they had to tear down the original that stood here, went through some awful storms & flooding, tangled with an insane amount of zoning & permitting rules, and worked with a very exacting homeowner to build their dream home.

One one of Houston’s swankiest neighborhoods, the sprawling house sits on almost an acre at the end of a very quiet street.

Their backyard is ginoarmous & includes a swank swimming pool and an awesome dog run around the perimeter of their fence. Between the pool area & the outside patio, there is an additional, 3,000 square feet of space.

I loved the simplicity & clean style of the house, the beautiful wood floors throughout, the giant windows and crisp white paint. As you walk in the giant foyer, the dining room is directly to your left & the floor to ceiling windows look out the front of the house & the room is connected to the kitchen & formal living room.

Their formal living room looked like a ballroom! The high ceilings made this room amazing & I loved the wall of glass windows looking out onto the outdoor porch.

Super swank office with tons of gorgeous built-ins & a great view of the backyard.

The couple was moving into the house that week & I’d *LOVE* too see the whole thing all decorated- I imagine it’s even more gorgeous. The master bedroom is a good size & has views out the front of the house.

The master bathroom & closets were probably one of the things that made me drool the most.

The house contained lots of other useful knooks & cranies- the everyday office/desktop area, the butler’s pantry between the kitchen & dining room, and the “real” pantry.

I think that this room was going to be the more casual living room area- which is adjacent to the formal living room & kitchen, with access directly to the pool & views of the backyard.

This is the same room as pictured above, just some different shots showing how spacious & bright the room really is.

The kitchen was another place of beauty & wonder. From the collosal granite island to the numerous appliances/warmers/ovens/stoves. The windows in this room offer views out to the front of the house & into the pool area.

Even the laundry room was impressive & as large as some bedrooms I’ve seen. Moving onto the living area of the house, the back staircase was gorgeous! The front staircase is a hidden staircase near the front entrance with a door off the foyer. Upstairs there is a little outdoor balcony with views to the pool. There is a crafting room upstairs for the Ms. & a wet bar downstairs by the living room for the Mr.

I think this area is going to be their game room- with wonderful windows, this room also opens up to the outdoor patio & is placed in between the upstairs bedrooms.

They have 2 kids, who each have their own amazing bedroom & decked out private bathrooms. The house is over 8,000 square feet total (inside) & has thousands of details that my dad has told me all about- from the 8 types of granite to the super garage workshop to all sorts of fancy electronics and technology. I’m so proud of my dad & amazed that he can build such stunning homes.
GOOD NEWS OF THE DAY: Two weeks from today, we will be wandering around New York City taking in all the holiday madness.
