In my quest to get caught up before the end of the year, I’m going back to few events I missed blogging about earlier this year, including our Saturday evening out to White Linen Nights in the Heights in August. Their slogan was sultry, steamy, exotic, artfully provocative & the event lived up to it’s name. Set in my favorite charming old neighborhood, thousands of people donned their best white outfits & set out to explore shops, restaurants, galleries and more as many of the local businesses stayed open late.

There were many block & yard parties- some planned & some impromptu. People with babies & 4-legged babies. People with coolers & people with strollers.

Lots of musicans camped out on corners & at various bars/restaurants putting on live & often acoustic shows. Our local brewery, St. Arnolds, graciously gave away free samples at several tents.

They had shuttle buses running between the various hot spots & to the main drag, but rickshaws were the way to go instead of waiting for the shuttle. It was cool that they all came up from downtown & mid-town for the even. Free *adult* snow cones helped me stay cool on the hot evening.

We eventually made it back up to 19th Street, where the road was blocked off & many exhibits were set up on the sidewalks, including a fashion show in the middle of the intersection.

We walked around a few of the galleries & mostly enjoyed checking out all the people- such a diverse crowd & we were so excited so see such a great turnout in Houston. We ended up at one of H’s favorite restaurants, Spanish Flowers, which is truly a Houston landmark.

We had such a great time just hanging out, taking in our city, enjoying the fun & funky Heights neighborhood with it’s amazing collection of buildings & gorgeous, old trees.
GOOD NEWS OF THE DAY: Going to see the boys tonight & attend one of their Christmas concerts.
