Two weekends ago we also went downtown for a fundraiser at the Houston Zoo called Feast with the Beasts. It’s a event at night where dozens of local restaurants offer samples, they have many animals out for zookeeper talks & then a concert to top off the night.

It’s very surreal being at the zoo at night & they have some fabulous lighting which sets the mood for fun.

We sampled food at about 10 different booths- some good, some long lines, some fast food types of fare. They had beer & wine to go along with dinner.

One area was set up with all the desserts & sweets…

I think my favorite part was the carousel! I haven’t been on one in decades & certainly never with drink in hand

We were able to view many of the animals at night, and we got an especially good look at the giraffes. These two were nuzzling each other’s faces- too cute!

The lion exhibit was amazing (but very dark). They had dinner hanging out for this lioness (of course the male lion was just laying there!) & you can see her batting at it with her paw in the upper right photo & eventually tearing it out of the tree.

The night wrapped up with a performance from the Spin Doctors- somebody I hadn’t listened to in about 15 years. They played some (new?) music I wasn’t familar with & also played a few of their old hits. All in all, a great way to spend the evening & raise money for a wonderful cause.
GOOD NEWS OF THE DAY: Back to Laredo today & then getting ready for Thanksgiving.
