SS: Bright Idea

Sunday Scribblings #241: Bright Idea Got one? What’s the best one you know of? Have a writing idea that’s been pestering you? Well? What are you waiting for?  What’s your bright idea?

I’m in a whining & complaining mood- so here are a few of my bright ideas!  Total overhaul of the TSA.  I am vehemently anti-scanner!  I travel several times a month & I’ve had enough of the silly rules that do little to actually improve airline safety.  The ever-changing insanity drives me nuts- why do I have to take off my belt at some airports?  Why do shoes go in a bin in Houston and must go on the belt in Orlando?  Why is there a need to feel up my ponytail?   There’s got to be a better, more efficient, more cost-effective solution.

I’m trying to sell hubby on the idea of investing in a vacation/retirement home that we could rent out year-round, visit several times a year and pay off so we could live there and retire in the distant future.  I’d  love a place in Colorado- it’d be a great excuse to go every summer and fall.

Although I’ve found a few good ones, I really need some indestructible dog toys that will last more than a day or two between my crazy vizslas.  While I”m dreaming, it should throw itself too, or at least not roll under my desk every 5 minutes so I have to get on my hands and knees to fetch it myself.

We really need some bright ideas to deal with traffic.  We’re a smart species- how can we not figure out a better way than millions of people sitting in gridlock for hours every day?  It seems insane that we waste so much of our lives on a problem that surely has an answer somewhere.    I am certain that the idea of self-driving cars is part of that solution somewhere.

Ok, my one serious idea is a match.com-like site where you can meet new people- friends, exercise buddies, mentors, couple-friends.  Perhaps they have it now, but I haven’t seen it anywhere & it’s not socially acceptable.  I remember the early days of online dating- the late 1990′s and it was totally taboo for many years to say that you “met somebody online.”  There are many meetup.com groups & online forums, but I haven’t seen anything specially geared towards people connections without the dating element.

Oh, while I’m brainstorming.  There needs to be a better way to find out when artists you like are coming to town for a concert.  I have bandmate on my iPhone, but it doesn’t seem to alert me when new concerts are announced.  Seems like this would be a great avenue for Apple and iTunes to send alerts for certain cities for artists in your music library.

GOOD NEWS OF THE DAY:  Hubby took some customers to Florida today to watch the Texans- too bad they didn’t win.
