We had to run into town a few weeks ago for H to do some work. I decided to check out a new wine bar, Block 7 Wine Company. Has now officially been open 2 years & it’s in the Heights- so I can’t believe we’ve never been in there. They have a few tables outside & that’s where I enjoyed my Pinot on a gorgeous fall afternoon.

The inside is large, open, clean and bright. They serve a full menu & lots of snacks if you just want a little something while sipping wine.

The also have a wholesale area where you can check out a variety of wines. In the back area, they can host a number of special events and classes.

Something so gorgeous about all those wine bottles organized so perfectly.

There was a bridal shower going on this particular Saturday afternoon, so I tried not to be too obtrusive. The room goes back into this little corner for a bit more intimacy and privacy. They might also open up that large door when the weather is nice…

One of my favorite things was all the amazing art hanging on the walls. They had some really neat pieces & I was fascinated by an enormous old (1960′s??) key map of Houston they had displayed on one of their walls. The service was excellent & they looked to have some good food on the menu- I only had time to sample the sweet potato fries.
Bonus points to them for being open on Sunday (4pm though) and opening at 11 all the other days. I drove by other wine bar that I was going to stop by first, but it was closed at 2 PM!
GOOD NEWS OF THE DAY: I’m headed to Philly in 10 days for the marathon!

Hey! This is right down the street from us. We’ve gone there several times, but not lately. They have great food. Yum!
They have a sister restaurant Table 7 that is just around the corner on Durham. We’ve yet to go there.
