Sunday Scribbings #240: Friction The prompt this week is: friction. Good or bad? Necessary? Love it? Hate it? What do you make of it?

As with most things in life, there are no absolutes- good or bad, right or wrong, black or white. Some friction can be good & motivational, too much or not enough won’t get the desired results. Physical friction is absolutely necessary- we wouldn’t have fires or electricity or life as we know it without friction. Emotional friction is pretty much by default necessary. As human being we strive and thrive, make mistakes & triumph, and all have inner-struggles we battle. Life wouldn’t be life if people were perfect and no friction every existed. It’s usually in those times of great friction that you grow & learn, overcome obstacles & forgive others. I remember of all the friction I caused in the house growing up, just being a typical teenager. I think of the magical friction of going out on the first few dates with my husband- getting to know him, creeping every so slowly into a new relationship. I realize all the tiny issues that drive us both crazy day after day are the typical friction that comes with building a life with another human being who is as imperfect as I am. In the end, friction makes life more difficult but it bring us closer to the things that make life worth living.
GOOD NEWS OF THE DAY: Amazing weather & an amazing husband- he cooked dinner for me tonight.
