SS: Love

Sunday Scribblings #234: Thought I’d go back to basics with a deceptively simple prompt: love.

Love is tough in that there are so many kinda of love and types of love.   These days, I think the word love is often abused.  I may really enjoy food & good wine, I can find running rewarding, I have a favorite pair of shoes, taking photos makes me happy, I find satisfaction in my job.  I don’t really love those things they- they are pleasurable and I like them, but I should reserve love for people.   Loving people isn’t easy, none of us are perfect and the amazing thing about love is that we do it in spite of all our imperfections.  That’s one of the few nice things about getting older-  I’m learning to love more, love better, love deeper, forgive faster, give, serve, and share.

Through church, I learned about all the different words the Greeks have for love, and thus Jesus, used for various types of love.   I really enjoyed and learned from the book, The Five Love Languages, and I highly recommend it for couples.   It made me realize that people express love and display love in very different and distinct ways.   After 3 years, 7 months & 14 days of marriage, I love my husband more each and every day and fall further IN love with him. We have been extraordinarily blessed and I love (and am incredibly thankful) for our wonderful friends and family.  I’m glad we are finding more time to spend with all of them.  I love my dogs- crazy puppy and all.  They bring so much happiness and joy, laughs and frustration to our lives.

GOOD NEWS OF THE DAY: I think fall is here…the temps are slightly cooler and I’m loving it!
