We actually left Houston late on a Friday night & arrived around midnight to the Hampton Inn & Suites downtown. We awoke the Saturday morning to gorgeous skies & this great view from our room.

We loved our view of the Allegheny River right before it joined up with the Monongahela River to start the Ohio River. All the old bridges were a neat sight & we caught the workhorse of the Appalachians- a might train crossing the bridge.

The hotel was beside the very cool & futuristic looking Pittsburgh Convention Center.

On our way to the Strip District, we passed some stately old bridges that looked like there was an important part of history.

We’d decided to see the city using The Pittsburgh Tour Company’s double-decker bus. It makes a loop around the city, with stops at various points. You can hop off to visit the area & wait for the bus to come around on the next loop for a ride to the next place you want to hop off and explore.

One stop was directly in front of our hotel, so we hopped on there, stopped at the Strip district, rode through, but didn’t get of at the downtown proper stop, and then took the bus over to Southside works. There are some fabulous & glorious old buildings downtown if you enjoy architecture.
GOOD NEWS OF THE DAY: Off to volunteer & then participate in the 1st annual Houston Wine Festival!
